FOSS Management Study: Use of Open Source in Automotive

A first-of-its-kind survey of the European automotive industry has revealed that open source is even more pervasive in the development cycle than anticipated, but the necessary governance processes are lacking, at best. The survey, conducted by management consultancy BearingPoint and scientifically guided by Dr. Dirk Riehle, head of the Open Source Institute and professor at the University of Erlangen/Nuremberg, was sponsored by Black Duck Software. It includes responses from 25 leading automotive companies in eight countries representing 50 percent of the European automotive industry.
